Is PTI’s women’s reserved seat candidate Sanam Javed going to be arrested again soon?

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has issued bailable arrest warrants for Sanam Javed, a well-known activist associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The ATC was presiding over a case concerning charges of rioting and arson, which had been filed at the Shadman Police Station in Lahore. The court had previously ordered the accused to appear in person; however, due to their absence, the court proceeded to issue arrest warrants for both Sanam Javed and Rubina Jameel.

ATC Judge Khalid Arshad was the one who signed the warrants for the two individuals.

Last month, a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) heard a case involving Sanam Javed, which was filed against her in Gujranwala in connection with the May 9, 2023, riots.

It is important to note that Sanam Javed has faced a series of arrests even after being released by various courts. Shortly after her release from Gujranwala jail, she was detained by Islamabad police and subsequently handed over to Balochistan police, who intended to transport her to Quetta. However, the Islamabad High Court intervened and prohibited her transfer out of Islamabad.
